Wrong website solution

This Amy and I's poster we made for seeking help if you go on a wrong website while at school, and how to avoid the wrong places. We had to make steps on what to do after mistakenly going on the wrong website.

It was easy to collaborate with Amy and find ideas. I found it hard to make the poster look flash and stand out. I really enjoyed Thinking of the steps and finding out solutions.

Digital learning object - collaborative

Today we had to make a digital learning object, with a buddy about the do's and dont's on a topic. We got given buddies and we had to collaborate and think of a new character. We were learning about collaborating with a buddy and the difference between formal and informal, and when it needs to be in place.

I found it easy to collaborate with Jess. Also, to think of something to do. I found it hard to make a character, and which one we were gonna use. Next time I need to, maybe learn some more skills to make it more effective and look better.

Paper planes competition

This morning year 7&8 students from Matawai came to our school and was in our class. We did some P.E with an icebreaker game like ultimate frisbee but with a tennis ball on the netball courts. Then we came into class and got into groups mixed with year 7&8's and some kids from Matawai school and collaborated with them while making a paper plane with 3 papers 4 straws and a piece of blue tack, we had to use all the straws and blue tack that was provided and we also got some tape.

So we got together in a group, I was with Amy from my class and 2 Matawai girls called, Aleasha and Lily. It was good to be with girls from a different school and collaborate with them. We made a plane, our goal was to make it streamline and think about the way it glides and how it will fly.

So we made the plane and put some straws down the spine and down the side of the wings, to give it some support. We tested it out a few times and thought it was going well. We thought about some techniques on the way we could throw it. In the end our plane flew straight into the ground and our throwing technique of it wasn't too flash. It was great to be with some new people.

It was easy too talk too everyone in our group and share our ideas with each other. It was difficult finding places to put the leftover straws. Next time what I would do differently is, make it stronger and more sturdy!

Hut

So far this year, the thing I'm most proud of is a new hut we made in the classroom. It's a comfortable quiet place where you can finish your work. We worked hard on it and incorporated everyone's ideas, and everyone tried their hardest to help. We got some help from the teachers with the drills and drilling in the screws. Miss Willock also helped us keep grounded in our grand ideas, she reminded us that we should start small and get bigger.
During this experience, I have learned, how to use tools and get nails out of wood. I also learned, just to start small and not have so many grand ideas.
The next steps in my learning are, making more huts and getting more experience so I can make a really cool hut one day.
